The Eighth Line

Master the grid. Befriend the chaos.

(In-development board game)

The Big Idea

The Eighth Line is a tactical roguelike where dice placement becomes a puzzle of survival. Each round, you’ll load up your grid, roll with intent, and activate a single line—row, column, or diagonal—to unleash your turn. With each cleared stage, the grid resets and the pressure builds. Master your dice, trust your instincts, and when the time comes… choose your line carefully.

How It Feels to Play

You’ll feel clever one turn, cornered the next. Every stage resets your dice layout, so each level is a fresh puzzle. Combos feel satisfying. Losses feel fair (mostly). The rhythm is addictive: roll, rethink, retaliate.

Peek at the Pieces

Behind the Scenes

The Eighth Line began as a design challenge inspired by some of our favorite games. We wanted to build something with the layered tension of a combo engine and the satisfying strategy of grid-based play. The idea evolved quickly, from humble sketches to a full-blown roguelike with its own rhythm, weirdness, and occasional brutality.

The result is clever, punishing, and packed with surprising synergies. Every decision matters. Every mistake is a lesson. And sometimes, luck will smile (or sneer) when you least expect it

Thursday, our self-declared feline supervisor, is—unsurprisingly—less impressed. He particularly takes issue with the companion mechanic. “One companion is quite enough,” he says. “Preferably a white and gray one with opinions and claws. None of these pixelated upstarts offer judgmental glares or targeted hallway tripping.”

That said, Thursday has expressed deep admiration for Scrapjaw, a boss who destroys player dice. “A creature after my own heart,” he purrs. “At last, someone who understands the importance of knocking things off the table.”
